After 20 years working in the Australian business sector in leadership roles with NAB, Serco and Telstra, Michelle Redfern knew the gender diversity strategies being used weren’t working. Determined to make changes, rather than admire the problem, Michelle set about using her Design Thinking skills, obtained during her Executive MBA studies, to develop a new, disruptive approach to gender equality. The founder of two enterprises dedicated to advancing women is the hallmark of the way Michelle operates.
Michelle dreams of a world where women are equal and celebrated, which has seen her put gender equality on the business agenda through her practical, action oriented diversity strategies that challenge people and organisations to be inclusive, courageous and to get things done.
As a “card-carrying, flag waving feminist,” Michelle states that she loves of ‘F’ words like fabulous, feisty, fantastic, female, flawesome and feminism. And it’s her passionate and inspiring personality that gives women the freedom they need to experiment with who they are, develop their skills and learn to thrive in a business environment. Something Michelle encourages females from walks of life to do in her Women Who Get It (WWGI) network, which she founded in 2016.
Michelle’s business background paired with her love of sport has not only given her experience, skills, qualifications and wisdom but the "street cred" she needs to advance women into leadership positions, both in business and sport. While Michelle describes herself as an “ordinary woman striving to do extraordinary things” it’s clear that she is anything but ordinary.
